Now how on earth did I generate almost $800 of sales for Babeland in just a month?! Could whoever mass-purchased e-mail me so I can send you a thank-you?
I still have only gotten three responses for comments on how to improve CyDyBlog, and only two resulted in trial accounts, so there’s plenty of room for more! Send me your comments!

In the Life Call for Interviews

Sex
In the Life, the gay and lesbian television program on public television, is looking for New York City women who partner with transmen. Here’s the blurb, courtesy Daily Dose of Queer:
PBS television’s LGBT-affirmative “In the Life” is producing a segment on women who partner with transmen. We are especially interested in stories about women who’ve had to rethink their identities due to their involvement with transmen - lesbians who now grapple with a heterosexual identity and straight women who now find themselves identifying as more queer. And those who are quite comfortable with a “trans-am” identity.
The show will be produced by the same guy who wrote the show “The View from the Other Half” for NPR’s “This American Life.” Listen here: http://www.thisamericanlife.org/pages/descriptions/03/247.html
It seems “trans-am” refers to trans-amorous, just in case you didn’t know (I didn’t).
GaydarGirls is Anti-Trans

As if Michigan’s rules against transwomen weren’t bad enough, now GaydarGirls.com has made a fool of itself by banning a paid member because she hasn’t completed her SRS. Here’s what I sent them:
Hello,
I wanted to express my dismay at the recent administrative choice made by GaydarGirls.com to remove a longstanding member of the community based on the fact that she is transgendered. To be honest, I am appalled at your willingness to practice discrimination against a member of a group marginalized by society - so much for minorities supporting each other. I’ll explain that a little better with the following example:
I was recently hired by RSVP Vacations as an interpreter for one of their cruises. On day two of the trip, the RSVP employee who had hired me (along with another lesbian and a gay man) pulled the three of us aside and said he was terribly sorry but he had to ask the two female interpreters if we really were lesbians. It seems there was some complaint among the passengers because we looked like we might be straight. The other interpreter was able to establish herself as a dyke, but apparently rumors continued about me for the entire week. Finally, on the next-to-last night, I was confronted directly by a passenger who demanded to know if I was lesbian. When I said yes, he demanded to know if I had a girlfriend. When I said yes and that we’d been together for seven years, he demanded to know if I had a picture of her! I was so incensed by this treatment that I went to the ship’s Internet cafe and printed out a picture of my partner and myself with a well-known gay celebrity. That was apparently good enough for this individual, but I later heard that the male interpreter had been asked repeatedly if I was straight…because I am femme and have long hair.
The idea that a group of gay men (RSVP cruises are about 90% male) can discriminate against a lesbian is shocking, I’m sure you’ll agree. And so it is equally astonishing that a group of lesbians can discriminate against a transgender woman. Whether or not she is lesbian (that is, sleeps with women) is irrelevant - you were attacking her based on her sexual characteristics and NOT her sexual orientation. Telling a transwoman that she should join a site intended for gay men is ridiculous, and I condemn you for such practices.
Sincerely,
(me)
Horrifying, isn’t it? I encourage readers to get in touch with them about this; if you are a member of the site then please consider withdrawing your participation.

Remember the PerfectFlex ladies who are on CyDy from time to time? This site was promoted to me as having a gallery of erotic contortionist photos…but it appears to all be in Japanese, so I’m not sure what’s going on here!
There’s also this gallery of weird stuff found in Japanese sex shops. Thanks to Kale for both links!

So am I the absolute last person to realize that Toys in Babeland has changed their name and is now simply called Babeland? And that they’ve been selling their products through Amazon for more than a year? Holy crap. I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this. Will my Toys in Babeland t-shirt become a collectors item now??
Admitting What We Like

Genia of SistersTalk has written about lesbians who love gay male porn. She has an awesome quote from Felice Newman that I just have to pass along:
Fact is, many people – lesbian, gay, heterosexual, bisexual - get off on porn that doesn’t reflect their actual sexual practices (or don’t get off on porn that does match their stated sexual orientation). One woman told me: “I have no doubt that I am a lesbian and have no desire to have sex with a man, but the thought of two guys doing it really makes my clit throb.” Why? Well, to some of us, cocks are hot. Just because we like to look at them doesn’t mean we need to marry one. (Although we might fantasize having one.) And some self-identified lesbians like having sex with men - straight men, bi men, gay men, and transmen. Plus gay male porn has the added benefit of being more accessible than lesbian porn - finding it just isn’t that hard (pardon the pun).
I totally love this discussion. A few months ago I participated in a survey for The Stranger about women who like gay male porn. I wasn’t too surprised that there are women who do, though, because I have loved all kinds of porn for years. That’s also why the story I have posted on Literotica is a heterosexual story. I get messages all the time asking why a lesbian would write straight porn. Part of the answer is that the mainstream audience doesn’t want to see butch-on-femme porn…they expect femme-on-femme in the lesbian story section. But additionally, I get off on straight porn too. People should be more free in their fantasies - it’s okay to fantasize about the taboo, I promise…and even about things you don’t want in real life. Really!
Picking Out Porn

Alicia Guinn has written a cool piece for Toys in Babeland called How to Choose an Adult Video. She tells how to identify exactly what style you want (gonzo? plot-driven?) and what you’re looking for in that style (people of color? directed by a woman?). The article is useful for anyone, queer or straight. She mentions two of my favorites, Slide Bi Me and Sugar High Glitter City.
Girlfriends Survey

Sex
The current feature on the website for Girlfriends magazine is a sex survey! I just love surveys. Unfortunately it’s not set up to be filled in online, you have to print it and either snail-mail or fax it to them. I noticed this paragraph at the top:
While we realize it may be tempting to fill out the survey as a group or couple, we’d like answers undiluted by the lesbian-merge factor, so please complete it by yourself. Also, please decide for yourself how you define “sex,” as long as it’s consensual.
I would say they’re definitely aware of modern lesbian life! The survey itself is really good. It acknowledges that many lesbians have in fact had sex with men, and that women might fake orgasms even with other women. The “pick your favorite sex act” list includes rimjob, and the “what is your usual method of masturbation” question acknowledges that not all women get off with a vibrator or their hands! (Those are my preferences, but I have tried other ways too…)
Anyway, have fun with the survey. And feel free to let me know what other questions you think should have been on there - I could post a follow-up here!
