News Roundup

February 17, 2005 | Filed Under News Reports

Sorry for not posting sooner…I actually got a life today! I went out to dinner with a friend (no, not on a date). Anyway, here’s a few lesbian news tidbits that caught my eye:

CBC Arts: PBS chief to step down after lesbian cartoon controversy
It is a damn shame that this nation can’t handle a little bit of mind expansion from a kiddie show, and that we’re apparnently so uptight over inclusion and tolerance that this poor person has to step down over it.
Rutgers University bans antigay sandwich names
This feels like it belongs in News of the Weird. They don’t mention specific names, but what on earth could they be? The Faggot Burger? The Dyke Hoagie? This Newsday article doesn’t tell, but the quote at the end is somewhat troubling. Would David French approve of the sandwich titles staying up there if they used the N-word?
Bill to create “traditional marriage” license plates killed
Yay! Virginia finally does something right. I still would like to move out of this state, but at least I won’t want to rear-end everybody with “traditional marriage” plates.

  1. Beth Says:

I go to rutgers, and it’s a huge deal here right now, because the fat sandwiches are school traditions.

The names that have the biggest protest against them are:
    the Fat Dyke
    the Fat Filipino
    the Fat Bitch
