I came across an old blog called serving/girl. It lasted for just two months in mid-2003, and was written by a dyke Daddy’s girl who was serving her Daddy as a slave. There are just a few posts, but the ones that are available make for interesting reading. The author includes some erotic poetry, discusses her disabilities, previous relationships, and so on. I’ve tried searching the web to find if she posted elsewhere after abandoning her Blogspot site, but I haven’t found anything. All we are left with is a brief portrait of a girl’s relationships and life.

Thyroxine Causes Lesbianism

Well now, this is an interesting piece of news! According to an article in the UK’s Sunday Times, when pregnant women take a thyroid medication called thyroxine the chances increase that their daughter will be a lesbian. Certain diet pills - those based on amphetamines - cause a similar effect. This research was from Minot State University, located in North Dakota.

This study sounds awfully farfetched to me. The debate has been going on for decades as to what causes homosexuality, whether it’s biological or caused by environmental factors. I don’t expect these results are going to change much about that debate.

Network Update: darkPlay

This week’s update at darkPlay was a very special one for the network co-founder, Zille. She had the opportunity to work with Mike West, an artist who is known in the San Francisco fetish community for his skillful rigging of suspension scenes. For Zille, he used hemp rope, and also brought along a face trainer with a ball gag. The result is a journey through a suspension bondage scene: from the first coils around Zille’s tits, up off the ground, and back onto the mat. There are also some great shots of the rope marks post-scene.

Lesbian Teacher/Student Relationship

The latest story all over the news is of 36-year-old Elizabeth Miklosovic, a teacher in Michigan who has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl who was a former student. She has been charged with criminal sexual conduct and suspended from teaching; many news reports also mention that the two were wedded in a pagan ritual. They had known each other for several years, and the relationship began as an emotional connection that progressed into physical contact.

There is a huge difference between this story and that of Mary Kay LeTourneau. Although her relationship involved children (ones she already had, and ones born to her by preteen Vili Fualaau), it was heterosexual and fairly normal in terms of kink vs. vanilla. Miklosovic’s relationship, though, was lesbian and involved witchcraft. The religious right is going to jump on this story even more rabidly than they did the LeTourneau saga.

Lesbians and AIDS

Today is World AIDS Day, and this year’s focus is on women and girls with AIDS. For most mainstream media outlets, this means straight women and girls. But lesbians and bisexual women are vulnerable to HIV/AIDS too; although it is unusual for the virus to be spread through girl/girl sexual contact, it has been known to happen. And of course sex isn’t the only way HIV is transferred - many lesbians contracted it because they injected illegal drugs.

The Lesbian AIDS Project has been a part of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis programs since 1992. Located in New York City, they provide support for women who have sex with women through counseling, workshops, and education.
