Pretty Toys

Sex
I’ve got at least a dozen dildos and vibrators that, for the most part, are pretty damn phallic. Even my beloved Hitachi Magic Wand is long and skinny with a bulbous tip. But British company Myla has three vibes that are also design statements. They’re very expensive - the cheapest is $190 - but you can leave them out on your coffee table and call them art! (Washing them first seems prudent.) Myla also offers lingerie, featuring feminine black and pink lacy things like peekaboo bras and fluffy thongs. My favorite is the silk-and-lace corset in “antique ivory” and black.
Melissa’s New Sitcom

Pop Culture
Melissa Etheridge fans, take note! She is going to be starring in a sitcom on ABC sometime in the not-too-distant future. She hasn’t done much acting before (Teresa’s Tattoo, anyone?), but in addition to this TV show she has also signed on to play a transgender man in an upcoming film.
Out After All These Years

News Reports
We have it easy these days. More and more of the population is accepting of same-sex relationships, and there are plenty of support services available for anyone who identifies as queer. But it wasn’t always this way; in the past women have kept themselves in the closet because they feared losing their job, alienating their families, or risking their very life. Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin, founders of the Daughters of Bilitis, have been together for more than 50 years and out for nearly that long. But 75-year-old Mary Lou Fuller and her partner, 73-year-old Kay Amsden, are finally out after 25 years in the closet.
The L Clinic

Health
After a former roommate told me that Depo-Provera completely stopped her periods, I went out and got it. Periods were always so much trouble for me that it was well worth the cost of the Depo shots, and I’ve been happily period-free for more than four years with no major adverse effects from the Depo. I went to Planned Parenthood because I simply didn’t know where else to go; I was 19 when I started Depo and I hadn’t ever really seen a gynecologist. Apparently many other lesbians and bisexual women feel the same way, because now Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington DC has opened up a clinic for queer women. Located in the very same office I used to go to, “The L Clinic” is open on the first and third Thursdays of the month. With any luck, the clinic will be successful and other Planned Parenthood chapters will pick up the idea.
Network Update: darkPlay

CyDy Network
There’s an update at darkPlay! Zille and Alexi flew in Aedan (from across the country!) to participate in two days of BDSM play, which was filmed by Sexcetera for Playboy TV. Make sure to look for Alexi’s “good cop, bad cop” game, and check out that to-die-for sheepskin rug. And I just love seeing Zille and Aedan tied together at the wrists!
Sex Toys are Good for You

News Reports
According to a recent study from the Berman Center, nearly half of women ages 18 to 55 have used a vibrator. Women who play with sex toys are more sexually satisfied in general, experiencing heightened arousal and reaching orgasms easily. The poll was sent to 2,000 women across the United States.
Network Update: Serafina Sox
CyDy Network
If you enjoyed Serafina’s recent update featuring chocolate and strawberry syrup, now there’s more! Perched on her sink with her rubber duckie looking on, Serafina gets her lovely legs and feet (not to mention the sink and mirror) covered in syrup. And once she’s all messy…what else is there to do but lick it off?
